Funding for a brighter future

Over the years, Trust Horizon has granted over $40million in community funding across the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Those funds have gone straight to the community, where they’ve helped better the region’s health care, community facilities and amenities, marae, education, arts and culture, and more.

Trust Horizon welcomes the opportunity to explore potential projects that will help expand our funding support towards meeting the Trust’s five strategic priorities:

  • Transformational Investment in Community Pride

  • Sustainable Energy Transition

  • Provide Community Leadership

  • Work-ready Rangatahi

  • Employed Locals.

If you have an energy related idea or project which could align with one or more of the Trust’s strategic priorities, please get in touch.

Note, service providers are not required to be based in the Eastern Bay to deliver selected or region wide energy related initiatives that benefit the community.

Grants that go where it counts

Every year, 60% of the Trust’s net income is distributed as community grants. That’s roughly $1.5million each year, evenly split between community grant applications (known as ‘reactive grants’) and projects initiated by the Trustees (known as ‘proactive grants’).

The Trustees would like to thank all the key stakeholders who have made many of these community projects possible – including the Whakatāne, Ōpōtiki and Kawerau District Councils, Horizon Energy Group, and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
