David Glover
Chairman

David is a professional director and one of Trust Horizon’s two appointed Trustees. He has over 30 years of senior executive and governance experience including commercial and multinational boards, industry associations, government, not for profit organisations and start-ups. After an international marketing career in the U.K., Australia, Indonesia and New Zealand he moved into the education sector as CEO of a number of private and government-owned businesses. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a past Fellow of the Institute of Management and Leadership.

David Bulley
Deputy Chairman

A chartered electrical engineer, David has over 40 years of experience in the electricity supply industry. Originally from the UK, David and his wife, Anne, moved to Ōhope in 1995. David is actively involved in the community – as a past member of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Development Board, business mentor, and EBOP Chamber of Commerce executive. David first joined the Trust in 2009. After a break to travel the world, he returned to the Trust in 2013, and has brought his wealth of business development experience to the table ever since.

Yvonne Boyes
Trustee

Yvonne has lived and worked in the Eastern Bay of Plenty for most of her life, and has called Ōhope home for the last 25 years. Having held positions in the Bay of Plenty District Health Board, nursing, and the local community, Yvonne has an excellent understanding of governance. She has the strong ability to advocate for the wellbeing of – and investment in – the region's communities. Yvonne first became involved with Trust Horizon through the Project Hope Cancer Centre, and joined the team as an elected trustee in 2021. Today, Yvonne continues to enjoy a strong network of relationships across the Eastern Bay.

Kevin Hennessy
Trustee

Kevin is a lifelong Ōpōtiki local, and a well-known fixture in the community – having managed the Blue-moon Four Square with his wife, Glenys, for almost 40 years. A long-time volunteer fire-fighter, Kevin also has roots in the rugby world. He was President of the NZ WASPS RFC from 2000 to 2002, and has also been on the board of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union. Kevin is the Trust’s elected representative for the Ōpōtiki District. He’s passionate about bringing new opportunities to the area, and seeing his home town thrive.

Edwina O’Brien
Trustee

Currently Manager at Kawerau Pathways to Work, Edwina has focused her career on promoting a healthy life-style in the community through sports. Before joining the Trust, Edwina was Sports Coordinator for Kawerau District Council, and the Green Prescription Advisor for Sport BOP (Kawerau). Of Ngāti Porou descent, Edwina was elected to the Trust in 2011 to represent the Kawerau area – where she’s lived for over 40 years. Edwina is proud of the Trust’s contribution to Kawerau, and believes in its role as a helping hand for organisations that might not otherwise get the funding they need to thrive.

Merrin Stables
Trustee

Merrin is one of Trust Horizon’s two appointed Trustees, and has spent 20 years as a corporate lawyer. With a decade of experience in the electricity industry and a strong focus on corporate governance, Merrin brings a valuable set of skills to the team. Merrin has lived in the Eastern Bay for 16 years. She’s passionate about long-term projects that make a genuine difference in the community, and is driven to make the region an even better place to live.

Derek Caudwell
Trust Manager

Derek was appointed the Trust Manager in January 2021, having previously been the General Manager of Horizon Networks. Derek joins the team with over 15 years’ experience in the energy industry, working in various commercially-focussed roles both in New Zealand and overseas. He holds a Diploma in Financial Management as well as a Doctorate and Honours in Engineering. Having grown up in the Bay of Plenty, Derek and his family now call Ōhope home.

Robyn Forrester
Office Administrator

Robyn is the Trust’s office administrator, and the friendly face who greets visitors at reception. In 2018, Robyn made the move from one paradise to another – leaving Tokomaru Bay on the East Coast, to be closer to family in Ōhope. Robyn joined Trust Horizon in November that year, and quickly became a trusted and valued member of the team.

Allison Windley
Grants and Funding Facilitator

Allison joined the Trust in January 2021 to facilitate the Trust’s grant process. In her role Allison provides support and guidance to those applying for funding, as well as being the Trust Secretary for Board meetings.  Allison returned to Whakatane in 2015 after over 30 years away, she is enjoying the ability to spend more time with family and what the Eastern Bay offers, along with continuing her work for community focused organisations.
