Creating Proud Communities
Trust Horizon is dedicated to investing in a wide range of energy-related projects. From Whakatāne to Ōpōtiki, Kawerau to Kaingaroa Village, nothing brings us more pride than bringing long-lasting benefits to our local communities.
Warmer Kiwi Homes
Together with the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA), the Trust is helping bring fully subsidised home insulation to families living in NZ Deprivation Index areas 7, 8, 9, and 10. The programme is delivered locally by Brightr, who you can get in touch with here.
“Proper home insulation is key to a warmer, drier and healthier home. Insulation can mean fewer doctor’s visits, lower energy bills, and fewer sick days. For those living in cold and damp housing, the effect for whānau can be transformational.”
20 Degrees Programme
Created by altruistic business Sustainability Options, the 20 Degrees programme aims to help Kiwi homes achieve and maintain 20 degrees throughout winter. The initiative visits homes in need, determines their health and energy performance, and then creates a plan to improve it. Trust Horizon is proud to have invested over $450,000 since 2021 in the project, to bring its benefits to communities in the Eastern Bay.
Visit the 20 Degrees website for tips on keeping your home and whānau healthy.
“Ongoing measuring identified that our current average whānau monthly energy use is 2714kWh. This is 4 times greater than the desired monthly energy use of 666kWh. This shows that there’s plenty more room for improvement, and we look forward to continuing to help reduce energy use and keep homes warm and healthy.”
